The real meaning of custom
The excessive use of the term ‘custom’ in today’s superyacht industry makes it tricky to know what it actually means. When we say that Feadship builds ‘pure custom’ superyachts, we refer to the way each project is designed totally from scratch. Many of the greatest Feadships ever built had their genesis at a meeting where we started sketching to life the owner’s ideas on a blank sheet of paper.
This process is illustrated by our most recent launch, the serene 69-metre Samaya. The client came to the Netherlands the day after we met at the 2014 Monaco show, toured our facilities on the Sunday, then spent the next two days with our in-house design team translating some fascinating ideas into an initial design. A Letter of Intent was signed on the Tuesday evening and, three years later, the result is there for all to see.
You can read about Samaya’s launch below along with our plans to showcase the Carte Blanche experience at this year’s Monaco show. Come to our stand to discover your Feadship DNA as part of a unique interactive presentation.
Monaco will also see the release of the new PILOT magazine, which – as we explain below – will now be published annually. Last but not least, do take time to read the PILOT Update on the new refit projects getting underway in the Netherlands this autumn… Not everyone will be in Monaco it seems!
Warm regards,
