Ahead of Monaco Yacht Show 2018, Nauta Yachts has unveiled a new avant-garde, custom superyacht project: Moonflower. Developed for an experienced owner, construction on the 70-metre project is set to begin by the end of the year.
Nauta Yachts confirms the naval architecture and engineering for Moonflower is at an “advanced stage” and that tank testing is due to start shortly after the design contract was signed at the Monaco Yacht Show last year. The motor yacht will be built in Italy and is scheduled for delivery in 2021/2022. Set to feature an innovative and patent pending designed beach club, Moonflower’s exterior styling reflects the yard simple and clean aesthetic. Offering an expansive interior volume of 1,450GT across five decks, plus a lower deck, the new superyacht design offers plenty of room for a gym, wellness and spa area as well as a private owner saloon.
One of the most unique features on board of Moonflower will be her expansive beach club, which will feature a patent-pending system for multiple fold-down platforms. The indoor and the outdoor areas of the beach club are directly interconnected, allowing guests to freely walk to the outdoor section of the beach club through a glazed door or through the side terraces that open to port and starboard to form a walkway around the stern. At the same time, the walkway and fold-down bulwark can be opened to expand the aft deck to 117 square metres, offering guests a 270-degree view.
Other key features include the sea-water swimming pool which features a hydraulic mechanism for raising the teak bottom that shuts flush with the deck when the pool is not in use, and the spa and wellness area that features a hammam, sauna and shower. In addition, the full-beam lounge, complete with fire pit, is directly accessible through the glazed transom door and the side (port and starboard) opening terraces, with a large, offering direct access to the surrounding environment.
“Innovative design, lots of open-air space, close contact with the water, light-filled and airy interiors, flexible layout and furniture solutions… These were the ‘must have’ features requested by the owner that drove the exterior styling, general arrangement and interior design,” says Mario Pedol, co-founder of Nauta Yachts in Milan.
The upper deck of Moonflower will be dedicated to the owner’s accommodation, with direct access from the helipad and private foredeck which includes an ‘infinity nest’ forward in the bow. The 87 square metre owner suite is set to include full-height glass windows on three sides, as well as a large skylight in the deckhead, to admit as much natural light as possible. The central lift, which is wrapped by a circular staircase, connects all decks from the lower to the sun deck.
Moonflower will be powered by two electric motors (1500 kW @ 1800rpm) which will be mounted on the drive shafts and can be powered by 5 diesel generators, giving her a top speed of 16 knots and a range of more than 6,000 nm at a cruising speed of 14 knots.
