Joshua Lee, the founder and managing director of Lee Marine, has announced that the brokerage house has successfully sold a 69.5m Feadship new construction project. The Phuket-based firm has expressed their enthusiasm for the growing potential of the Asian superyacht market.
The naval architecture of the 69.5m project will be completed by De Voogt Naval Architects and the interiors penned by London based designers Redman Whiteley Dixon.
According to Lee Marine, the contract was signed at the end of 2014 with a three-year delivery schedule. Construction of the 69.5m superyacht is very much underway.
“We have a first class team in place and are one year into into a seamless and pleasing build process for a very happy owner, the yacht will be quite distinctive with many long range features which may surprise some corners of the market,” comments Lee.
Lee Marine has been commissioned to over see the three year build process with Hans Doodkorte. Not only is this a great news for the Dutch shipyard, it’s also a positive reflection on the demand for superyachts in the Asian market.
“The state of the market in South East Asia is thriving with governments finally cutting the bureaucratic red tape. The lead is by Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. Mainland China however, has stalled,” continues Lee. “South East Asia is quickly becoming the third largest cruising ground in the world, following the Mediterranean and Caribbean. This area is not exclusive to Asian buyers either, they are coming from all corners of the globe with their yachts”.
