The Feadship flag was flying high in the Austrian Alps yesterday as we were awarded four golden Neptune trophies during the ShowBoats Design Awards in Kitzbühel. This annual event honours the creative talents behind the most innovative, elegant and inspiring new yacht designs, and we were delighted when Cristina Gherardi from CG Design took home three awards for her work on Savannah. Moreover, in a fine recognition of Feadship’s glittering past, Frits de Voogt won a Lifetime Achievement Award.
The world’s first hybrid super-motoryacht, the phenomenal 83.50-metre Savannah was created in partnership with CG Design who designed the profile, the GA as well as all the interiors. Among the many features which helped win the awards were the way the circular shapes on the aft bulwarks become one continuous form and the manner in which the glass superstructure seems to float on the decks. In addition, the aft owner and main deck areas form one giant open inside/outside space, enclosed by weather-tight sliding doors.
Savannah’s interior, also from the boards of CG Design, features an amazing amount of detail. Highlights include an underwater Nemo lounge for watching the fish through specially reinforced glass, a bow observation lounge, a double-volume video wall installation, a wellness area and a library. Large windows in all staterooms and bathrooms offer fabulous panoramic views.
All this and more won Savannah three prestigious ShowBoats Design Awards for Exterior Design & Styling, Interior Layout & Design and Holistic Design. Click on the individual links if you would like to read more about why the judges were so impressed.
If Savannah showcases the futuristic spirt of Feadship in the 21st-century, the Lifetime Achievement Award granted to Frits de Voogt honours the rich history of our brand. Frits started work at Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects in 1958 and, over the next four decades, was responsible for designing scores of iconic Feadships as well as being a leading force within Feadship as a whole.
