The Cove Phuket is a lovely little hideaway nestled in Ao Yon Beach near Panwa, a beautiful part of Phuket where very few tourists set foot. This small open-air restaurant and bungalow resort is blessed with a beautiful seaside view, making it a great way to escape the crowd for lunch or dinner. The food is good and well prepared, not toned down like often in other restaurants.
The restaurant is divided into 2 areas: the seaside terrace and the covered bar area. The terrace is obviously where everyone prefers to sit, in the shade of palm trees and a set of large umbrellas. If you are lucky, you might even get to witness a beautiful sunset. We went there twice during day time only, once in the morning and once for lunch. Looks like we need to plan another visit for dinner!
From our experience, The Cove Phuket is a great place for a slow and relaxing breakfast. Sip your morning coffee or go for a full breakfast, enjoying a peaceful sea view as a cool breeze flows through the trees. Life doesn’t get any better. You’ll be surprised how fast time goes when doing nothing!
Lunch is as enjoyable and food is even better than we anticipated. Food is really good, prepared with very fresh ingredients and well presented. The menu is relatively large and varied but without photos, so you will have to use your imagination. We found it easy to read and to choose from. You can pick from a good choice of Thai, international dishes and even pizzas baked in a wood fire oven. Everyone can find his treat. The Cove has a good choice of salads, seafood and meats to choose from, plus a decent list of wines to go with (by the glass as well).
As an appetizer, we had salt pepper squid (260 baht) which was very fresh and tender. The fresh Vietnamese spring rolls (220 baht) were perfect with the atmosphere and warm weather. We also ordered a simple Som Tam Goong (Papaya salad with prawns, 270 baht) and it was really good. Just thinking of it I know I will order it again next time. Overall the prices are a little high but the quality and the chef’s cooking skills are perfectly justified, and the team was very friendly and attentive.
