The 45.6-metre Damen Support Vessel 4508 Joy Rider has arrived at Damen‘s outfitting yard in Gorinchem, the Netherlands after travelling from Den Helder. Currently under construction, and with delivery expected for this summer, she is the first of the newly developed YS 4508 model from the Dutch yard.
Built in steel and aluminium by Damen and with naval architecture and exterior design by the shipyard, the Damen Support Vessel 4508 Joy Rider has a beam of 8.3 metres and a gross tonnage of 315.
Since introducing their range of Damen Yacht Support vessels, the yard has delivered 12 yacht support vessels up to 71.5 metres to date, in cooperation with Damen’s superyacht builder, Amels.
“Joy Rider is a smart package that can be both a stand-alone and a support solution,” commented Rose Damen, Managing Director of the yard. “Our approach has been proven in diving, exploring and marine conservation operations from Papua New Guinea to Antarctica. We’ll be at the Miami Yacht Show from 14 to 19 February and look forward to sharing our plans for Joy Rider with our clients.”
In terms of her layout, this Damen Support Vessel 4508 offers a flexible configuration for future owners with comfortable accommodation and ample space for toys, tenders and submarines. She also features a high-performance deck crane, with the aft deck used for tenders and toys.
Aiming to blend superyacht support functionality with stand-alone functionality, the Damen support yacht Joy Rideralso features a sun deck and a spacious main deck lounge.
On board, she will offer accommodation for six guests and seven crewmembers and also feature a touch-and-go helipad.
The cruising experience on board this Damen Support Vessel 4508 will be characterised by high comfort thanks to both the stabilisers and the yacht’s patented Sea Axe pedigree.
The rugged exterior design disguises an accomplished yachting platform which includes a wet exhaust, smooth power management, watermaker and large tank capacities, as well as stores for provisions, petrol and beach
party setups. As a vessel, Joy Rider aims to be capable, reliable and economical to maintain.
