On July 15th Cantiere Delle Marche based in the ship building town of Ancona Italy launched their largest build to date in the Darwin 107 ‘STORM’. This beautiful yacht represents the largest vessel the company has launched so far and marks the first of four 100+ ft vessels the yard has currently under construction. The Darwin 107 is a steel explorer yacht with five luxurious guest cabins with the master on the main deck and accommodation for five crew. She is a huge volume yacht (approx. 300GRT) much larger than anything else in its class and it is evident as soon as you step on board.
For example the engine room design and layout is always a highlight on any CdM boats, the space, the finishing, the ease of practical servicing are second to none and normally only seen on 40-50m vessels. Aft of the engine is large garage room that can house all the boats watersport toys and also act as a laundry for the crew. The lower deck is compiled of four guest cabins and further forward in the bow is the crew accommodation and crew mess.
On the main deck there is the huge cockpit which the size of really has to be seen to be appreciated then one enters the saloon which is basked in natural light due to the large explorer windows in the superstructure. The large galley is fwd of the saloon on the port side fully enclosed with a separate entrance for the crew. The owner and his family spend a considerable time on board so the galley was customized and enlarged to the owner’s requests. Further fwd is the stunning full 7m beam master cabin with adjoining office, once again its comparable to what you would find on considerably larger vessels
Moving up to the upper deck is the wheelhouse which has outstanding visibility and wing stations either side, cleverly there is an adjoining office for the captain to arrange the boat affairs. The upper saloon makes for a nice air conditioned lounge or entertainment area away from the main saloon which can be really practical with a full boat. From the aft deck you can proceed up the sun deck which is one of the most popular areas on board. There is a fully functional bar and BBQ, sun beds for relaxing and an upper helm for the captain. The boat can reach an impressive 5000 NM range at cruising speed and is fully self-sufficient for weeks at sea at any one time. She truly is an explorer yacht in every sense of the word but with the kind of luxuries and systems not seen before in this sector of the market.
The owner and his family are truly thrilled to have their boat launched and are currently on board enjoying her whilst cruising the Med getting to know her. The boat will be available to be viewed at the Cannes boatshow from September 8th – 13th this year and we invite any interested customer to join us there to see this stunning yacht in person. Here is a like to the e-brochure of this particular launch which as you can see was a very emotional time for all involved. http://www.cdmexperience.com/issue-13/index.html
