Riviera has revealed details of the largest and most sophisticated cruiser in its prestige Sport Yacht collection, the stylish new 6000 series, ahead of her world premiere at the Sydney International Boat Show in July.
Now under construction at Riviera’s headquarters at Coomera on the Gold Coast, the Riviera 6000 Sport Yacht model is the result of 34 years of experience building luxury power boats, combined with extensive consultation with existing Riviera owners from around the world.
The new 6000 – the flagship of the Sport Yacht series – features myriad new design and innovative technological enhancements to help her owners utilise every millimetre of space and achieve the ultimate boating experience.
Without doubt she will certainly impress any boating aficionado with her sleek external styling featuring a solid and robust hull with keel, large hull windows standard to every cabin. In fact, Riviera’s Australian and international designers have taken every detail into consideration from the bow to the stern to ensure this boat is not only supremely comfortable but also a luxurious high-performance vessel akin to a floating six-star resort.
Riviera’s chairman and owner Rodney Longhurst said the new 6000 Sport Yacht was built for entertaining with an aft galley awning window that opens the generous cockpit or alfresco dining area, which features plenty of seating. At the rear of the cockpit and to centre is an external wet bar with sink, fridge and twin barbecues.

The new fibreglass hardtop extends over the cockpit seating area to provide shade and shelter from the sun and extremities. This hardtop features a specially designed fibreglass sunroof, allowing owners to open up the area to bring sunlight and fresh air into the alfresco area,” Mr Longhurst said.
“As soon as you step on board you will notice the large internal space and elegant yet practical design features, which mean you don’t have to think about anything except enjoying the ultimate boating experience.”
The new Riviera 6000 Sport Yacht features caramel oak-coloured, high-quality timber finish flooring throughout the saloon, galley and companionway.

The U-shaped aft galley is the central entertainment hub with easy access to the alfresco dining area as well as the saloon. The clever and convenient layout coupled with solid surface bench tops and luxurious Miele appliances, including a three-burner induction cooktop, will make entertaining a pleasure. Another very practical design feature in the galley is the top-loading rubbish bin with Corian lid to match the remainder of the bench. A frosted glass finish to the overhead galley cabinets adds yet another touch of opulence.
Opposite the galley is the internal bar area complete with fitted dual-drawer ice-maker/fridge combination, as well as the C-Zone touch screen control panel which allows all navigational, lighting, entertainment and electrical equipment to be activated with the touch of the screen. A large television on a swing mount is adjacent to the internal bar and can be swiveled to allow viewing from the saloon dinette or large three-seater lounge.
The spacious and considered saloon is perfect for indoor entertaining or relaxing with a U-shaped lounge around a dinette table to port that seats 6 adults and a large two-metre long, three-seater lounge opposite. The three-seater lounge is large enough to enjoy a lazy afternoon nap and versatile enough to provide an additional dining area by simply moving the middle seat base out as an ottoman and lifting up the table located between the two remaining seats. Here, Riviera’s talented interior designers have included high-quality fabrics or soft-touch leathers that are UV-resistant whilst plush to touch and feel, and are of course available in a wide range of colours.
Forward of the saloon to starboard is the impressive helm station which has been cleverly sunken into the dash, providing exceptional visibility and ergonomics in an exciting new helm style, featuring enough space for two 17-inch display screens, and two premium quality electric adjusting leather helm seats with stainless steel illuminated push buttons. The saloon also features a large glass Webasto marine sunroof to bring light and fresh air into the saloon area at anchor and underway.
Riviera’s CEO Wes Moxey said there is a spacious and versatile accommodation plan below decks featuring up to four generous-sized staterooms and three bathrooms.
“The master stateroom is a key feature of the new 6000 with a roomy ensuite to port featuring sliding door entry and large port hole to bring in natural light, as well as opening port holes either side. A king island bed is centre with a sliding door on the starboard side giving access to an extremely generous walk-in robe. Forward of the island bed is the dresser with bulkhead-mounted television, and to starboard is a large lounge forming a cozy adults’ retreat,” Mr Moxey said.
“A spacious utility room is located in front of the engine room providing additional storage or it can be converted into crew quarters.”
The forward stateroom features an impressive ensuite and the starboard cabin with twin single beds also has an ensuite which doubles as a day head for the port cabin with twin bunks. The accommodation deck features plush carpeting and there is a number of exciting carpet options for the staterooms.
Standard power in the 6000 Sport Yacht is the new-generation and fuel-efficient twin Volvo IPS 950s (533kW / 2 x 725hp) pod drives featuring forward-facing, counter-rotating propellers. IPS offers an impressive power-to-weight ratio and torque, higher top-end speed and, in the case of Riviera’s 6000SY, delivers a top speed of over 30 knots under full load conditions, carrying 2650L fuel and 750L water.
IPS also delivers lower fuel consumption, and fewer CO2 emissions along with less vibration and, notably, first-class maneuverability thanks to the twin drive units (or pods), each of which is capable of turning independently to provide correct thrust to move the boat in the precise direction required either through wheel or joystick docking controls.
Indeed a skipper – either solo or with a novice crew – can simply push and twist the joystick to make the boat respond immediately, pivoting in place or crabbing sideways into a berth that’s just long enough to fit the vessel. In the6000 SY, there’s an additional joystick in the cockpit area for even better easier berthing as well as a standard integrated GPS for station-holding whilst preparing lines and fenders, before docking or rafting up, or whilst waiting off a fuel jetty.
This latest new Sport Yacht model from Australia’s favourite and most awarded luxury boat builder will make her world premiere at the Sydney International Boat Show from July 31 – August 4.
